Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital, Drogheda

Project Overview

Elliott Group delivered the Phase 2 expansion of Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital, a major multi level development accommodating critical care, emergency, and surgical facilities. The project comprises a new Accident & Emergency department at ground level, ward accommodation on levels 2, 3, and 4, and operating theatres on level 5, with all plant areas located at roof level, both internally and externally.

Extensive enabling and diversion works were completed ahead of foundation construction, including temporary retaining works and the diversion of foul drainage, ESB, medical gases, and communications. Infection control within the live hospital was maintained through the installation of a 6 storey dust screen as part of aspergillus prevention measures. The façade comprises an Argeton terracotta rainscreen with Schüco curtain walling, installed with support rails and glazing, alongside a structural steel bridge link constructed over the existing hospital to connect Phase 2 with Levels 6-8, fully enclosed in structural curtain walling.
