Elliott Group Begins Construction at the RDS for the Regeneration of the Main Arena and New Anglesea Stand
Elliott Group is proud to announce the official commencement of construction on the regeneration of the RDS Main Arena and Anglesea Stand. The RDS is a social impact organisation located on a 43-acre campus adjacent to Dublin city centre and is a venue for a diversity of live entertainment, sporting and corporate events. The Main Arena is host to the annual RDS Dublin Horse Show international competitions, as well as hosting Leinster Rugby home games.
The project will see the construction of a new three-level grandstand, with a seating capacity of 6,775, and a substation. The total development will span 8,892 sq.m., including both enclosed spaces and external stands, providing panoramic views of the RDS grounds, including the famed judging rings. The stand will feature a modern design, combining concrete, painted steel, metal panels, render, and glass finishes, creating a structure that will stand as a beacon of excellence for generations to come.
Darragh Elliott, Managing Director of Elliott Group, commented:
“This project is particularly meaningful to us at Elliott Group. The RDS purpose is to inspire and empower positive change in Irish society, and for generations, the RDS has been a symbol of sporting and cultural excellence in Ireland. Many of us grew up attending events here, so it is an absolute privilege to play a part in its next chapter with the RDS and an exceptional Design Team.”
The new Anglesea Stand, rising to a height of 21.3 metres, will ensure the venue remains a leader in hosting world-class events.
Demolition of the existing Anglesea Stand is underway, with the historical statue, Hibernia, now removed and being carefully restored. The project is scheduled for completion in 2026, and the Dublin Horse Show 2025 will proceed as planned in 2025.
