Quantity Surveyor (Junior, Intermediate and Senior level) 

About The Job

We are looking for a Quantity Surveyor (Junior, Intermediate & Senior Level) to join our team.

Objective 

The Quantity Surveyor is responsible for managing all aspects of cost management, procurement, contract administration, and commercial reporting throughout the project lifecycle. The level of responsibility varies depending on experience and seniority, ranging from supporting tasks at Trainee/Junior level to full commercial leadership at Senior/Lead level.

Responsibilities

 

Junior Quantity Surveyor

  • Conduct measurement and take-offs for materials and labour.
  • Support preparation of valuations, variations, and payment applications.
  • Assist with cost tracking, forecasting, and cashflow reporting.
  • Work with subcontractors on basic queries and documentation.
  • Contribute to tender analysis and procurement schedules under supervision.
  • Ensure project documentation and records are maintained accurately.

Intermediate / Project Quantity Surveyor

  • Manage commercial aspects of allocated work packages or small projects.
  • Prepare and manage interim valuations, cost reports, and forecasts.
  • Administer contracts, including assessing variations and claims.
  • Lead procurement for defined packages, including tender evaluation and recommendation.
  • Liaise with site teams, subcontractors, and clients to resolve commercial issues.
  • Monitor project budget, risks, and opportunities to improve cost outcomes.
  • Ensure compliance with contractual and company standards.

Senior Quantity Surveyor

  • Lead commercial management on medium to large projects.
  • Produce robust cost plans, financial reports, and strategic commercial advice.
  • Manage and mentor junior team members.
  • Oversee full project lifecycle commercial delivery: procurement, contract management, cost control, final accounts.
  • Evaluate and negotiate significant variations, claims, and change orders.
  • Build strong relationships with clients, subcontractors, and consultants.
  • Provide early warnings of risks and develop mitigation strategies.
  • Support bid submissions with pricing and commercial input.

 

Key Skills and Competencies (All Levels)

  • Strong numerical, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Understanding of construction contracts.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation abilities.
  • Proficiency with cost management software and Microsoft Excel.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with project teams.
  • Highly organised and detail-oriented.
  • Professional conduct with a commitment to ethical commercial practice.
